All Summer Long - MY VERSION

I mean no disrespect the owners of Kid Rocks All Summer Long,

but this is my version of the lyrics, it rings more true to me than any other song,

as it is about a real place, a real event, things I did

AND MOST OF ALL someone I did them with,

Justine Coleman.

It was 2009, my thoughts were short, my hair was long,

Caught somewhere between a boy and man,

She was 17, and she was far from in between,

It was summer time on the southern coast.

Fake entry in the club, hubbly by the campfire,

It’s the simple things in life right then and there,

We didn’t have no internet, but man I never will forget

The way those braids looked upon her hair

-

And we where trying different things, we were smoking funny things,

And cooking nude by the pool to our favourite song,

Sipping whiskey out the bottle not thinking bout tomorrow,

Singing ‘Sex is on Fire’ all summer long.

Singing ‘Sex is on Fire’ all summer long.

-

The Afrikaans we used to mock,

And breakfast cooked on the wok,

She’ll forever hold a spot inside my soul,

We’d blister in the sun; we couldn’t wait for night to come,

To hit Sub Zero and play some Rock ‘n roll

-

While we where trying different things, we were smoking funny things,

And cooking nude by the pool to our favourite song,

Sipping whiskey out the bottle not thinking bout tomorrow,

Singing ‘Sex is on Fire’ all summer long.

Singing ‘Sex is on Fire’ all summer long.

-

Now, nothing seems as strange as when the leaves began to change,

Oh, how I thought those days would never end.

Sometimes I hear that song and I’ll start to sing along,

And think man, I’d love to see that girl again.

-

And we where trying differnt things, we were smoking funny things,

And cooking nude by the pool to our favourite song,

Sipping whiskey out the bottle not thinking bout tomorrow,

Singing ‘Sex is on Fire’ all summer long.

Singing ‘Sex is on Fire’ all summer long.

Singing ‘Sex is on Fire’ all summer long.

Singing 'Sex is on Fire' all summer long.

Singing 'Sex is on Fire' all summer long.

Apocalypse

My First lyrics written entirely by me, to a girl who was more effort than she's worth, Justine Coleman, I imagine the music to be something like Paramore's Let The Flames Begin.

Listen to me, girl
This is our Apocalypse
The end of the line
No more fighting for this
Your resistance is too strong
My back broken against your wall

You came from nowhere
Then in every moment
Part of my soul, and the key to it
Where you my sister, or something more?
Closer than any friend
You're breath created a man

This is it, our Apocalypse
The end of the line

You introduced me to the Nazerene,
John and The Rose
On bended knee
You promised to always be a part of that
And I believed you...

This is it, our Apocalypse
The end of the line

I gave all I could to you
You meant that much
But I didn't....I was forgotten
Whenever someone better
Felt your thigh

This is it, our Apocalypse
The end of the line

Girl, we fought because you took
Something from deep down
Between the marrow and the spirit
Or really because you still mean a lot
The flying objects never hit you
Because they were never aimed at you

This it, our Apocalypse
The end of the line
No more fighting for us
May your will be done
It never was to fix the past

Besides I can't do it anymore
Even if I wanted to
No more fighting for this
Your resistance is to strong
My back broken against your wall

Listen girl, how was I meant to know
We both had the same will
To return to our Genesis
What it was meant to be
Not what it became

This is it, our Apocalypse
The end of the line
No more fighting for us
Neither resisting

This is our Apocalypse
The end of the line
No more fighting for this
Neither resisting
The wall supporting the back

Justine Coleman

I need to tell you this,
But you'll never understand.
I'm still trying not to care,
You never did.
-
I let you in closer than I thought possible,
But you where always so far.
I never realized it was fiction,
You never where good with reality.
-
I wanted love, only asked for friendship,
You pretended, but couldn't even give that.
I told you I could never be a priest,
You made it so easy.
-
You built me up so much,
But you where only taking away.
I still reach out to you,
But you step further back.
-
I thought the wounds were healed,
But you're still cutting the scars open.
I gave up trusting you,
And everyone else.
